This Privacy Policy describes how Cigar AI ("the App", "we", "us") collects, uses, and protects your information.
1. Information We Collect
Depending on how you use the App, we may collect or process the following types of data:
- Account and profile data: Email address, display name, Google sign-in profile information, authentication provider, profile photo, age verification status, preferences, and account settings.
- Cigar journal and inventory data: Cigar entries, ratings, notes, tasting details, favorites, wishlist items, prices, locations, pairings, humidor names, humidor capacity, temperature, humidity, quantity, and unit price.
- Photos and image metadata: Cigar, profile, humidor, and feedback images you upload. When available, the App may read photo metadata such as capture date and GPS coordinates to prefill fields.
- AI content: Images, prompts, chat messages, selected cigar history, favorites, wishlist items, humidor summaries, and other context sent to AI features such as identification, recommendations, import enrichment, and Havana chat.
- Community content: If you opt in to Flavors/community sharing, public posts, comments, likes, selected cigar details, ratings, notes, images, first name, profile photo, experience level, and Pro status may be visible to other users.
- Feedback and support data: Feedback category, message, email, name, app version, device information, platform, and optional screenshots.
- Usage, analytics, and diagnostics: Feature usage, screen views, events, app version, build number, platform, device type, install/session identifiers, subscription status, and performance or error information.
- Subscription data: Subscription identifiers, purchase status, entitlement status, and related account attributes handled through RevenueCat, Apple App Store, Google Play, or web checkout providers.
We do not require a physical address or legal name to use the App, but an email address and profile name may be used for authentication, profile, support, and account purposes.
2. How We Use Your Data
We use your data to:
- Provide AI-powered cigar identification and recommendations
- Maintain your cigar journal, humidor inventory, preferences, statistics, and profile
- Power Havana chat, import, pairing, wishlist, and taste-profile features
- Operate public Flavors/community features when you choose to share content
- Manage subscriptions and feature access
- Respond to support requests and feedback
- Improve app accuracy, reliability, safety, and user experience
- Protect against abuse, fraud, security incidents, and violations of our Terms
3. AI, Images, and Location Metadata
- AI features are processed through Firebase Cloud Functions and Google Gemini services. Requests may include photos, text prompts, cigar details, limited journal context, humidor context, and recent chat history needed to provide the feature.
- Uploaded images may be stored in Firebase Storage so they can appear in your journal, profile, humidor, feedback, or shared community posts.
- If a photo includes GPS metadata, the App may use those coordinates to suggest a location and may send the coordinates to a reverse-geocoding provider. The App does not continuously track your device location.
- We do not sell your images or use them for advertising.
4. Data Sharing
We do not sell or rent personal data.
Limited data may be shared with:
- Firebase and Google Cloud services for authentication, database, storage, hosting, analytics, Cloud Functions, and AI processing
- Google Gemini for AI identification, enrichment, recommendations, and chat features
- PostHog for analytics, diagnostics, and AI observability. Session replay is not currently enabled in the App.
- RevenueCat, Apple App Store, Google Play, and web checkout providers for subscriptions, entitlement status, billing, renewals, cancellations, and refunds
- Reverse-geocoding providers when photo GPS metadata is used to suggest a location
- Other users, only when you choose to publish content through public Flavors/community features
- External apps or services when you choose to export or share content outside Cigar AI
5. Local Storage and Security
The App may store account session data, cached Firestore data, analytics state, and app preferences locally on your device or browser to keep the App working reliably, including offline where supported.
We take reasonable measures to protect your data using industry-standard security practices, including Firebase authentication, Firestore security rules, Storage rules, and server-side processing for privileged operations.
6. Data Retention
- Journal entries, humidor data, Havana chat messages, preferences, and uploaded images are generally retained until you delete them or delete your account.
- Public Flavors/community content remains visible until you remove it, opt out where supported, or delete your account.
- Account deletion removes app-owned account data, journal data, humidor data, uploaded images, public profile data, and public Flavors activity tied to the account.
- Some records may be retained where needed for security, fraud prevention, legal compliance, billing, dispute resolution, backups, or third-party provider requirements.
- Deleting your Cigar AI account does not cancel subscriptions. You must cancel subscriptions through Apple App Store, Google Play, RevenueCat web checkout, or the original billing provider.
7. Your Rights
You may access, update, export, delete, or stop using the App at any time. Signed-in users can start account deletion from the App. If you cannot access your account, you can submit a deletion request through the public deletion request page.
If you are located in the EU, California, or another region with privacy rights, you may have additional rights under applicable data protection laws. Please contact us for assistance.
8. Age Restriction
Cigar AI is intended only for adults of legal smoking age in their jurisdiction, including 21+ in the United States. We do not knowingly collect data from users who are under the legal smoking age.
9. About the Operator
Cigar AI is operated by an independent developer based in the United States.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Updates will be reflected on this page.
