Editorial Policy & Evidence Standards
Effective August 30, 2026
Cigar AI is a cigar journal, humidor tracker, catalog, and AI-assisted discovery product for adults of legal smoking age. The website and product are published under the Cigar AI name and maintained by developer Ben Baler. This policy explains what our pages mean and the evidence required for claims.
Content types
- Product pages describe current Cigar AI capabilities and link to the Android or web app.
- Catalog profiles organize source records into public profiles. A profile is not proof that every field was independently verified.
- Community content comes from users who choose to share supported content. It must be labeled separately from editorial copy.
- Guides and tools explain concepts or provide estimates. They are not sensor readings, professional advice, safety guarantees, or controlled product tests.
- Reviews, rankings, comparisons, and case studies require a disclosed method and supporting evidence. We do not present hypothetical scenarios, generated prose, or unverified catalog data as first-hand testing or customer results.
Sources and attribution
We prefer primary sources: manufacturer specifications for products, official Cigar AI code and provider state for product capabilities, public-health agencies for tobacco health information, and identifiable research for scientific claims. A retailer listing may help establish current availability or price, but those details are volatile and must be dated and attributed.
Catalog and AI limitations
Cigar AI may use automated processing and AI-assisted generation to normalize catalog records, suggest identifications, or draft content. Automation can be wrong. Users should review AI-assisted results before saving, and readers should verify important product details with an authoritative current source.
Catalog counts describe a dated build snapshot. They do not equal independently verified products, reviews, users, or smoke sessions.
Reviews, scores, prices, and recommendations
We publish a score, ranking, numeric performance claim, price, or “best” recommendation only when we can identify the source, sample or test set, method, date, and limitations. Otherwise, the page must be framed as a comparison framework or catalog example and cannot claim verified community outcomes.
Health and storage safety
Tobacco use is harmful, and no cigar is safe. Storage content cannot diagnose mold, insects, or product safety from a photo, one environmental reading, or a rule of thumb. Suspected contamination should be isolated and reviewed by a qualified source. Safety-sensitive pages require stronger sourcing and review before search indexing.
Updates and corrections
Material changes should include a modified date. If a claim cannot be supported promptly, we may correct it, relabel the page, remove it from search indexing, or remove it entirely. See our Corrections Policy to report an issue.
Commercial relationship
Pages may invite readers to use Cigar AI. Product promotion does not change the evidence standard. Sponsored, affiliate, or otherwise compensated content must be disclosed on the page if introduced.
